A cooling trend is expected over the next few days as we lose the unusually warm temperatures from today.

FORECAST:

Conditions are warm today with high temperatures that surge to the lower 80s. It feels unusually warm for this time of year with a mostly sunny sky to start. A batch of clouds passes by midday to produce a round of light rain showers that pass across the state. This round of rain is light and intermittent and won't be problematic. The breeze picks up tonight into tomorrow and it will deliver cooler weather for tomorrow.

Thursday's high will be in the mid-60s instead of the 80s, thus more typical for this time of year. It will be sunny and brisk.

Friday's weather is interesting - starting with temperatures in the mid-50s and light showers or drizzle. This develops into broken midday showers before clearing in the afternoon. A surge of warmth may move into New Jersey for Friday afternoon that drives temperatures into the upper 70s. This would be brief as the sun then sets, and a line of thunderstorms moves across the state. These storms are brief and occur at night, near 8 p.m. or later. These storms then cause temperatures to fall into Saturday where highs will only be in the mid-50s. The wind picks up from the northwest to keep the cold air local. Cold air settles in for Sunday morning with wind chills in the upper 20s for northwestern New Jersey.
