A Winslow Township woman is facing multiple counts of animal cruelty after five horses in poor condition were removed from her property, the Camden County prosecutor said Thursday.
Dana Grykin, 56, is the owner of property on the 100 block of Norcross Road in Winslow Township where the animals were found. According to the authorities, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Winslow Township Police Department, Winslow Township Animal Control and the New Jersey Department of Agriculture responded to the home on Oct. 4 to execute a warrant. Investigators searched the property and found a small stable where five horses were being housed. The animals were "severely emaciated and dehydrated," the prosecutor said.
According to authorities, the stable was an inadequate size for the horses and offered them little room to move around or feed.
"The horses were removed from the property and taken to a farm where they will be properly cared for with adequate food, water, and room to run and graze," the prosecutor said in a statement.
Grykin faces five counts of fourth degree animal cruelty and failure to care for animals. Police are asking anyone with additional information about the situation to contact Detective Ryan Durham of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 856-225-5127 or text anonymous tips to CAMDEN.TIPS.
