ALERTS:
There is a WIND ADVISORY and WIND WATCH in effect for New Jersey tonight 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. tomorrow as strong and damaging gusts blow across the state behind a weather front.
FORECAST:
Windy weather is approaching New Jersey after 7 p.m. tonight with the worst of it happening near midnight. Gusts can be in excess of 45-55 mph that cause tree damage and power outages. Most of the wind will be sustained between 15-25 mph.
Rain showers arrive near 9 p.m. in northern New Jersey, but it will not be heavy rain. There is not much moisture with these showers, but the wind is very forceful behind it.
Windy weather continues through Thursday with gusts up to 30-35 mph throughout the day. Temperatures are cooler with afternoon temperatures struggling to warm higher than 50-52 in most places.
Very cold air settles in on Friday morning with lows in the 20s north and west. Most spots in New Jersey will reach the freezing mark with immediate coastal communities only reaching the mid-30s.
Temperatures on Friday afternoon only rebound to the mid-50s again.
The weekend weather looks okay, with a round of early morning showers on Saturday before sunrise. These clear out for a nice midday.
Sunday's weather starts fair but brisk with an evening round of rain likely as a storm looks to develop just past New Jersey to the northeast.
