A widowed mom of five from Phillipsburg is living out the family dream by owning a cupcake shop in the middle of town.
Atheena Amann is the owner of For the Love of Cupcakes.
"I've just always been so spunky," said Amann. "So, it's very me."
The mom of five says it's a lot of running around, crazy nights and early mornings.
"I don't really know how I make it work, it just works," said Amann.
She's accomplished so much by the age of 28.
"When I was 13 my grandmother used to cook for the youth group and I used to help with desserts," said Amann. "My friend was like let's make a peanut butter and jelly cupcake and we did, it was great. It just evolved and I never stopped."
Her first pink mixer is on display. Decor and treats for customers to enjoy. Her grand opening a few weeks ago was bittersweet, marking nearly one year since her husband passed away.
"We looked here, and it was like a shell, so empty," said Amann. "But he stood here, and he looked outside and said this is where you need to be."
"He always said one day it's going to be so great the kids are going to grow old and they are going to take over," said Amann.
He wasn't able to see the shop open or the birth of their baby.
"I have five kids, five little kids looking at me. I don't get to sit in the dark and cry all day," said Amann. "We are out doing the stuff we love and some of the stuff we hate and just getting through it together.
