The West Point Museum has officially reopened its doors to the public after being closed for about a month due to air conditioning issues.

The museum welcomed back visitors on Aug. 22 and has already seen a steady stream of guests eager to explore its vast collection of nearly 25,000 historical artifacts.

The facility had been closed since June 24, when a failure in its air conditioning system made it unsafe to remain open during the peak summer heat.

“Super glad it’s open again. It’s a great place. Very informative and educational,” said Rajaram Suryanarayan, a visitor from Rhode Island whose son is a cadet at West Point.

Museum staff say that while the main galleries are now open, parts of the lower level remain closed for planned renovations. That section is expected to stay closed for about another year.

The West Point Museum, which draws more than 150,000 visitors annually, is open Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is free.
