New Jersey health officials have confirmed two human cases of West Nile virus in the state. The cases are in Camden and Burlington counties. The report comes as tests show a spike in positive testing in the state's mosquito population.

Various towns in Monmouth County saw trucks going around spraying pesticides where the infected insects were found. The trucks were targeting areas near sitting water such as a creek in Wayside.

Officials warn residents should use precautions while being outside such as insect repellent and emptying standing water containers.

West Nile virus gives flu-like symptoms that can be very serious, and in some cases can even be fatal.

State health officials say the virus has been identified in 19 out of New Jersey's 21 counties.
