Volunteers with the WeLoveU foundation gave out new winter coats to children at Michelle Obama Elementary School in Newark on Wednesday.  

School principal LaShanda Gilliam believes events like these are important for the community.  

"Giving back to the community is a core value of ours, and we've been doing that. Every single month we do something, so this has meant a lot for the children to see that everything you pour into others, people are going to pour right back into you,” she said.
