Lawmakers in Trenton questioned Veterans Affairs leaders about pandemic deaths at New Jersey veterans’ homes.
More than 200 residents died, and Republicans say -- they're still waiting for answers.

"We have to get to the bottom of this and learn from it and make sure it never ever happens again,” says New Jersey Assemblyman Hal Wirths. "We owe it to the veterans and the families to all the people of the state of New Jersey what happened, and what I've been hearing so far in the hearings is excuse after excuse after excuse. The Murphy administration never makes any mistakes when you listen to him."
Gov. Phil Murphy says he wants a full examination of the state response to the pandemic.
It’s still unclear when that will begin.
