Reports of goats seen wandering around the Garden State Parkway near the Monmouth rest area weren't entirely accurate.
There were some barnyard animals walking around the area, but it turns out they were sheep. The animals were seen wandering the Parkway area for about two months before they were finally captured by animal officials Thursday morning.
The two sheep, a mother and daughter, are being kept at under quarantine for the time being at the Associated Humane Societies, to ensure everything is OK. News 12 New Jersey is told that the mother sheep is pregnant.
After the 60-day quarantine is up, the sheep may be taken to the Popcorn Park Zoo in Forked River so they can live among other sheep.
