Service has been restored after a water main break on Georges Road in North Brunswick left area businesses and more than 120 residents at the North Brunswick Gardens without water.
Veolia Water crews started fixing the ruptured 10-inch main on Georges Road right off Route 1 in North Brunswick early Monday morning. One lane was blocked off as repairs continued well into the night.
The emergency repairs resulted in a local laundromat, LA Fitness, McDonald’s and dental office closing their doors early due to a lack of water. A nearby salon also was unable to provide all of its typical services to clients.
“I was coming to work out. I was actually pretty excited,” said Anthony Joseph. “They sent a message out earlier this morning saying they were closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. So I decided to come now, but it looks like it’s still closed, unfortunately.”
Veolia Water, the area utility provider, was unable to determine the cause of the break and did not confirm whether or not fluctuations in temperature had anything to do with it.
