Repairs on a water main break near the New Jersey Turnpike in Elizabeth will continue through the night, according to New Jersey American Water.
A spokesperson for the company says that crews have isolated the break, which was actually on an 8-inch service line, and not the 24-inch main they originally thought it was.
The break happened around 6 a.m. along North Avenue and Kapkowski Road near the Elizabeth Center, a block away from The Mills at Jersey Gardens.
Two commercial customers are impacted, according to New Jersey American Water. No residential customers are impacted.
New Jersey Turnpike ramp from interchange 13A to Jersey Gardens Boulevard is closed while the repairs are being made. New Jersey American Water officials say that the road should be reopened in time for Wednesday’s morning rush.
