Crews in Passaic County responded to a water main break on the Route 46 westbound ramp from Riverview Drive in Totowa on Tuesday.

The ramp was closed for most of the morning, and a guardrail was removed so heavy machinery could access the leak.

Water flowed onto the Home Depot parking lot and froze in temperatures as low as 18 degrees, creating a sheet of ice.

The Borough of Totowa identified the leak and made the necessary repairs, while crews salted the area and placed caution tape around icy spots.
