A world-famous sand sculptor is teaching kids to hone their sandcastle skills at the Jersey Shore.
John Gowdy spent the day on the beach with a group of children from a Monmouth County day camp.
Gowdy recently returned from the Vatican, where he handcrafted a sculpture for the pope. He has been teaching children about sand building for the last 30 years.
“It takes concentration, patience and a little bit of artistic talent but a lot of practice,” he says.
The children were awarded prizes for the team that came up with the best sandcastle.
