There was some excitement at the Jersey Shore Sunday when a sand shark swam a little too closely to the shoreline, and it was all caught on video.
Radio station 101.5FM WPDH reports that lifeguards in Beach Haven started telling swimmers to get to shore because a shark was spotted in the area.
One of the lifeguards approached the shark, which was about 3 feet long, and seemed to be distressed. That’s when a bystander reached down and grabbed the shark bare-handed. The act was posted to the radio station’s YouTube channel.
The radio station says that the bystander tried to swim far enough away from shore to let the shark go, but began to struggle. Another lifeguard had to go out to bring the bystander back to safety.
