A vacant building in Newark partially collapsed overnight on West Runyan Street near Clinton Place. The structure sits close to the Irvington border and was found with a full exterior wall down against a neighboring home.

The building appears empty, with plywood over windows and no front steps leading to the porch. Police tape surrounds the property, though no crews were on scene when News 12 arrived.

Debris from the collapse spilled onto the home next door. The residents next door were not evacuated and say they are fine.

A neighbor across the street tells News 12 that the vacant home did not have a roof and has been empty and untouched for at least a decade.

He said around 12:30 a.m., he heard firetrucks outside, got up and saw that the building had given way.

Parts of the vacant building showed signs of earlier work, though the timing and the scope of that work were not confirmed.

No injuries were reported.
