A New Jersey fire chief faces a lawsuit over damage to a rare Japanese race car.
Volunteer Piscataway Fire Chief Josh Scolnick was charged with criminal mischief nearly a year ago when surveillance video showed him tossing a bucket of rocks and mud onto the car parked next to the firehouse. The car's owner, Mark Bahna, told News 12 that the car is one of only 30 built. It is valued at half a million dollars in the suit.
Bahna is now seeking payment from the fire department and town for the damage.
Piscataway has six volunteer fire companies based in four fire districts each with their own elected commissioners. The Arbor Hose Company is in Piscataway Fire District 3 and is overseen by its commissioners, not the municipal government
