A Jersey Shore man has co-developed an app to make it easier for beachgoers to start their day without waiting in long lines.
The Viply app allows users to purchase beach badges and use their phones to scan a tag held by a beach attendant.
News 12 spoke with John Masterson, a Manasquan native, who helped co-develop the time-saving app.
“You can buy your daily badge pass in advance…and get onto the beach immediately,” says Masterson. “Sometimes those beach lines are…30 to 40 minutes.”
Viply started back in 2017 and currently has 85,000 users. It can be used in 16 New Jersey towns.
There is a small convenience fee for each purchase, Masterson says, which is usually between $1 and $2 added onto the cost of a daily badge.
