A New Jersey convicted sex offender is behind bars again for violating Megan?s Law.
The Morris County prosecutor?s office says convicted child molester Ernest Todd moved in with one of his victims and her mother on Washington Avenue. Investigators say Todd was convicted of molesting the girl, who is now 14, and two other little girls in 2002. He was sentenced to five years in a state prison and served three. Todd was released in August.
Prosecutors say Todd violated Megan?s Law by failing to notify police of his change of address from Morris Township to Chatham. He also failed to register as a sex offender and violated the no-contact order of his past victims. The girl?s mother has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Todd is locked up on $25,000 bail. If convicted, he faces four and a half years in prison. The child?s mother faces five to 10 years if convicted. The teen is now in the care of the Division of Youth and Family Services.
