Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation celebrated POW/MIA and Gold Star Mothers with an event in Monmouth County.
The event’s aim was to honor National POW/MIA Recognition Day honoring America's prisoners of war, missing in action, returned, and those unaccounted for from American wars.
Gold Star Mothers and families were also highlighted for their commitment and service supporting mothers who lose children in the line of duty.
Maureen, a Gold Star daughter, appreciates events that honor veterans like her father, who is missing in action.
"He was a captain in the air force. He was navigator on a B26 and he was shot down on January the 14th of 1964,” she said.
Following the events, the foundation hosted an In Memory program that shines light on New Jersey Vietnam veterans who passed away from service-related illnesses.
