A group of lifeguards in Manasquan captured a close encounter with a juvenile humpback whale while out on their rowboats.
Tim Farrell took the video of the whale seen popping in and out of the water about a half mile to a mile off shore.
According to whale experts, this is typical -- much like young kids, young whales explore things which are unfamiliar to them.
The two lifeguard boats stayed with the whale until they were about a mile off Sea Girt.
