Thieves entered the Paterson Bird Store in Totowa over the weekend, and three birds worth nearly $2,000 were stolen after a couple and their son walked in, the owner says.
Owner and President Philip Jasper says it all happened in about five minutes.
"I think the young boy was used as a lookout,” says Jasper. “When we looked back at the videos, we noticed he was kind of looking out while the man was grabbing the birds. So, it seems like an operation they have."
Jasper did contact the police. He says a few customers on Instagram were able to identify the woman because of her tattoo.
There is no word yet on the recovery of the birds.
