An emaciated dog that was tossed from a car and abandoned in Paterson is said to be doing much better, according to veterinarians at the Oradell Animal Hospital in Paramus.
Vets say that the Shih Tzu-poodle mix, nicknamed Grant, is still weak and can't stand for very long, but he is expected to recover.
Grant was tossed from a car on Granite Avenue in Paterson Saturday night. He was found covered in matted fur and weighed only a few pounds. Doctors believe he's been malnourished for months.
"Not everyone feels about animals the way we do," says Frannie Laurita, of Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge. "People see them as disposable or as possessions but they are family members, they are lives."
Paterson animal control tells News 12 New Jersey that the department may have some leads as to who Grant's owners are.
