United Airlines says employees
who refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccine due to religious beliefs would be put on
unpaid leave indefinitely.
The new guideline would
begin Oct. 2.
The airlines say the policy
would remain in effect until they can better determine how to have the
unvaccinated employees interact with customers and co-workers who are
vaccinated.
United says accommodations
can be made for people who have "sincerely held religious beliefs" on
a case-by-case basis.
Workers with a valid medical
reason would be put on paid leave.
