Union Township officials gathered Sunday to revoke the entertainment license for Skate 22, a roller skating rink where a Union teenager was shot and killed just after Christmas.
After 22 years, Skate 22 will close its doors. According to Union officials, owner Phillip Walker did not take the necessary precautions to reduce unruly behavior and violence among customers. Officials say many crimes were reported from skate parties held there.
Walker?s attorneys claim preventing all violence inside his establishment would be nearly impossible. According to Walker, the township officials are focusing on only some incidents, rather than his business as a whole.
Sixteen-year-old Jean D?Haiti was fatally shot close to midnight Friday at a skating party. He was one of nearly 100 teenagers at the party, where a fight broke out between two groups of guests.
