Union High School appeals forfeit of football playoff game due to COVID-19 cases

Union had to forfeit its game against Paterson Eastside after finding out about the virus cases just hours before kickoff.

The Union High School Farmers are hoping for a long-shot appeal after a high school football game was canceled because of COVID-19.
Union had to forfeit its game against Paterson Eastside after finding out about the virus cases just hours before kickoff.
Eastside now moves on to Friday's sectional final.
Once a forfeit happens, there's really no turning back. Still, Union's superintendent says the school has filed an appeal.
The Farmers are the defending champions in their section.
