Officials say that a man in Union County refused to come out of his home Tuesday afternoon, prompting a large police response.
Witnesses say that police in tactical gear arrived at a home on Seafoam Avenue in Winfield Township around 1 p.m. The streets surrounding the home were closed as a precaution.
Authorities at the scene would not provide any details about why the man was barricaded inside the home. Witnesses say that the man was believed to be armed, but that has not been confirmed by police.
Neighbors tell News 12 New Jersey that police eventually went into the home and the man surrendered peacefully. He was seen being wheeled out of the house in a stretcher.
Officials did not immediately say if the man would face any charges.
