A Jersey Shore family says that they are tired of the drug epidemic in their town, especially after what they witnessed on their home security system.
The Dziedzic family lives on Park Avenue in Union Beach. After being alerted by a neighbor that someone was seen lurking around their home late at night, the family took a look at their home security system. They say that what they saw was shocking.
On the video, the family saw a man in a hooded green sweatshirt, standing on their porch at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. It appeared that he was injecting himself with heroin, right there on their front steps. The Dziedzics believe the man was attracted to their particular home because the home's security lights were bright enough for him to see what he was doing.
"I'm actually pretty scared to come home at that time, knowing that this has been going on for a couple of months now," says Noelle Dziedzic.
She says that she typically comes home from work late at night, and does not want to run into any of these people.
The Dziedzics also say that for months they have seen people walk to one specific home on Park Avenue and quickly leave. They assume that the people in the home are selling drugs.
Union Beach police are now investigating.
"We don't want it in our community," says Union Beach Police Chief Charles Ervin. "If it's on someone else's front porch, it's on my front porch."
Chief Ervin says that anyone who witnesses suspicious activity is urged to contact police to report it.
