The unclaimed, cremated remains of 12 veterans all hailing from New Jersey are being honored today.
The group Mission of Honor collected the remains after officials were unable to find any next of kin.
One of the veterans served in the Mexican Border War near the start of the 20th Century. Most of the others served during the world wars.
The veterans are being honored with a service at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Pompton Lakes. The remains will then be taken to Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown for a committal service.
