A fire tore through an Irvington home Sunday, leaving two men dead.
The fire started in the basement of a three-story, multifamily home on University Place near Melrose Avenue at around 8 a.m.
Authorities haven't released any other information about the victims.
Tom Mitchell, his girlfriend Krystal Franklin and their 2-year-old daughter made it out safely. The couple awoke when they smelled smoke, and saw that it was coming from the basement.
"My baby was actually half-dressed, I threw a coat and a blanket on her, and we got her out," Mitchell said.
The flames shot out of the windows, leaving the home destroyed.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
