State police say two drivers are dead Monday after a fire engulfed two tractor-trailers in an accident on I-78.
Investigators say a truck traveling westbound crashed through the cement barricade and careened into oncoming eastbound traffic. The trucks collided head-on and burst into flames at exit 50 in Springfield Township, state police say. Both drivers were killed in the collision.
The crash brought eastbound traffic to a standstill. Traffic on the westbound side was delayed as well.
Express lanes and local lanes on the eastbound side have since been reopened.
