A family of four was involved in a deadly crash on the New Jersey Turnpike Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators say the family's van struck a tractor-trailer on the shoulder. They say the truck was trying to get back on the roadway when it was hit by the van.
The mother of the family was killed in the crash. The 14-year-old daughter is in critical condition. The father, who was driving the van, and the 7-year-old son suffered minor injuries.
The accident is still under investigation.
The western spur of the Turnpike near Carlstadt was closed after the accident.
