New York City is preparing for Broadway Week with two-for-one deals on major shows, but a Turn to Tara investigation warns that scammers are targeting online ticket buyers.
Fraud prevention company Riskified says ticket fraud rises 80% during winter months, especially for Broadway seats.
Mike Fusco from Riskified says scammers use account takeovers and bots to grab high-demand seats. They often target mid-range tickets priced between $200 and $500 to avoid detection.
Fusco says fraud peaks late in the week, especially Friday nights and weekends between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
To protect yourself, experts recommend changing passwords regularly and buying tickets early. If you discover a fake ticket, call your bank immediately.
