TSA: Volume of air travelers expected to be high this summer
Officials with the Transportation Safety Administration expect the number of travelers this summer to hit levels typically seen around holiday weekends.
Officials say that passengers should prepare for high volumes of travelers and do their part to help make sure traveling is smooth.
“The No. 1 travel tip that the TSA can offer you is get to the airport early,” says TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein. “You want to make sure you give yourself enough time and this year we’re recommending people get to the airport two hours in advance of their flight.”
The TSA says that on a normal day about 58,000 passengers are screened at Newark Liberty International Airport. They say that they expect that number to jump to 70,000 a day for the summer.
