President Donald Trump and Gov. Mikie Sherrill continue to trade barbs over the Gateway Tunnel project.

Trump called the Gateway project a "boondoggle." He posted on Truth Social on Monday that the federal government will not be responsible for any extra money.

The money for the project is moving again due to an order from a federal judge. Trump threatened the funding during the government shutdown. The administration blamed DEI initiatives.

Trump also says politicians and union heads floated the idea of renaming Penn Station after him. It was reported that Trump wanted that concession to release the funding.

Gov. Sherrill fired back. She says Trump is just trying to get out of paying what the federal government already owes. She noted this is the most urgent infrastructure project in the country.
