(09/13/06) TRENTON ? A woman in Trenton claims her former landlords stole her washer and dryer, while a police officer watched.
Dana Cariola says her two ex-landlords and a Trenton police officer all showed up, without a warrant, and demanded to take the appliances. The old landlords claimed they own the washer and drier. However, Cariola claims they are the property of the new management. To make matters worse, Cariola says the police officer repeatedly called her a thief while the washer and dryer were being taken from her home.
Trenton police say they are looking into the matter under the direction of the Mercer County prosecutor?s office. Cariola says she may sue both the police department and her former landlords. When contacted by phone, the ex-landlords told News 12 New Jersey they own the appliances in question.
