Trenton to get $11M renovations to make city safer

Gov. Chris Christie and Trenton Mayor Eric Jackson announced an $11 million plan to demolish vacant properties in the state capital Tuesday.
Trenton has 3,000 abandoned properties that many in the neighborhood think gives the area a "bad look."
Christie admitted that the renovations are long overdue.
"It's unacceptable to me that our capital city is not the most shining city in our state," Christie said.
Money for the demolition will also go to street lights and 150 new surveillance cameras for the city.
The city also announced plans to crack down on bars and bodegas that are open late and become centers of crime.
