Many people for and against same-sex marriages are protesting in Trenton Wednesday as advocates of gay marriage get their day in court.
Seven same-sex couples are suing the state for the right to get married. They believe not allowing them the right to a legal union is discrimination. However, the New Jersey Supreme Court will not decide whether same-sex marriages are right or wrong. The court is expected to address who exactly should decide the issue.
The state maintains that the Legislature should decide the issue of same-sex marriages. However, advocates believe it is the courts? job to end discrimination.
