Fallen trees have damaged over 20 homes across the Garden State as a powerful nor’easter passed through.

Authorities reported homes damaged in towns such as Clifton, Ramsey, Wayne and Westfield. Cranford alone saw at least seven homes damaged by fallen trees.

Cranford homeowner Judy Mack says that her home had to be condemned for the time being after a tree took out part of her roof and chimney and caused other major damage.

“I grew up in the house,” Mack says. “It can be repaired.”

A high wind advisory was in effect for most of the state. News 12 New Jersey meteorologist say that wind gusts got up to 60 mph in some areas of the state.

The wind is also responsible for bringing down trees and power lines on many streets in the state. A police officer in North Bergen was hurt when a tree fell on his cruiser as he was responding to a separate call for a fallen tree.

The stormy weather left tens of thousands of New Jersey residents without power.
