New Jersey Treasury officials say the second round of Stay NJ benefit payments is being mailed to eligible seniors who qualified for the state’s property tax relief program for tax year 2024.

The Division of Taxation has begun sending the payments to taxpayers who applied last season through the PAS-1 combined application for Stay NJ, ANCHOR and Senior Freeze.

Stay NJ benefits are paid in quarterly installments, not as a lump sum. The first payments were distributed in February, with an average benefit of $600. The average second payment is $645.58.

Treasury officials say the benefits are calculated based on a taxpayer’s property tax bill and eligibility for other state property tax relief programs, including ANCHOR and Senior Freeze. Stay NJ payments are distributed as paper checks.

The next Stay NJ filing season is underway for tax year 2025. Eligible seniors and disabled residents can apply through the PAS-1 combined application at propertytaxrelief.nj.gov. The deadline is Nov. 2, 2026.
