Police say a
Toms River man is facing two counts of murder after two men were discovered
fatally shot inside a Lakewood apartment Sunday morning.
Newly released
video shows the moment
Lakewood police tased the suspect to take him into
custody.
Police were
called to an apartment complex around 7 a.m. on River Road after shots were
fired.
According to
authorities, 39-year-old Tyshuan Drummond was arrested and charged in
the deaths of Nicholas Hardy and Sergio Chavez-Perez.
Ocean County
prosecutors say police confronted Drummond outside the apartment complex when
he failed to comply with orders. They tased him, and then arrested him.
Police found
both men dead inside the apartment, both shot in the head. Prosecutors called
the deaths senseless and praised the police for their bravery and using
non-lethal force in capturing Drummond, who is in custody at a hospital.
The Lakewood
Scoop identified one of the victims as a father of three whose children attend
Lakewood schools. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with expenses.
News 12 has been told that Drummond and the two victims knew each other. The prosecutor says the investigation remains active and ongoing.
