The Toms River Downtown Business Improvement District has reached an agreement with Mayor Dan Rodrick regarding a fireworks controversy in the town.

The town will now host five fireworks shows over the summer.

The agreement comes after Rodrick recently threatened to dissolve the BID’s budget if the town did not sponsor 10 fireworks displays.

“Fireworks on Fridays in the summer will draw in vacationers from the island and people from all neighboring communities. It will supercharge our downtown economy,” the mayor wrote in a statement.
