Getting around parts of Passaic County just got easier and more convenient thanks to a new microtransit service.
Officials say the app-based system called Passaic County Move offers riders an affordable way to travel in Clifton and Passaic. The service operates like other rideshare platforms but costs less and allows passengers to share trips with others heading in the same direction.

Mark Canepa of Clifton uses the service daily to reach the train station for school and work. He says the rides, which cost $1.80, save time and money compared to Lyft or Uber.
Since launching in May, the program has provided 22,000 rides and has 1,600 regular users. The vans are operated by Via, a microtransit company.
County leaders say the goal is to make commuting easier for residents without cars. Officials are seeking additional state and federal funding to expand the service to more towns and make it permanent.
