Today is National New Jersey Day, and the state has been around for a long time.
The first settlement was founded back in 1660.
The state was actually divided in half at the time, one half named New Jersey, the other, "The Isle of Jersey in the English Channel."
More battles took place in New Jersey during the Revolutionary War than any other state.
New Jersey was the third state to enter the union, but the first state to sign the Bill of Rights.
Today, New Jersey has the highest population density of any state in the U.S.
While it may be an industrial powerhouse, its nickname the Garden State is precise, as the state supplies the world with cranberries, blueberries, and tomatoes.
