(AP) - A New Jersey man's fight over a $54 ticket for tinted windows has led to an open records battle costing a town more than $20,000.

The Daily Record reports that a state judge ordered Roxbury to pay Jesse Wolosky's attorney $21,502 last month after his fight for records on the town's police policies.

Wolosky was ticketed for having tinted windows in April 2014. The ticket was thrown out, but Wolosky then sought the records through the Open Public Records Act.

He filed a suit saying Roxbury violated OPRA after the town's records department said some of the records didn't exist. That suit was first dismissed, but a judge later agreed with Wolosky after he cited 38 policies the town should have turned over.

Roxbury police Chief James Simonetti declined to comment.
