Election officials around the Garden State are working overtime to register voters for the Oct. 14 deadline.

New Jersey election officials say they are having a hard time trying to make the deadline. They are asking workers to put in 12-hour workdays and to work weekends to register all of the voters. Temporary workers were also hired to handle the influx of people.

Election supervisors in Bergen and Passaic counties say they?ve never seen a voter turnout like this year. Many voters say this election is an important one due to the recent economic crisis and the war in Iraq.

Some officials say they won?t be able to process all of the registered voters by Election Day. They say if that is the case, those voters will be given a provisional ballot when they show up at their polling places.
