The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a lot of uncertainty to the world, and New Jersey, but today in the parking lot of a government building in Monroe Township, one thing was certain -- the love between two people.
Ellen Panzer and Alan Schwartz have been in each other's lives for decades as friends. On Tuesday, the couple became Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz, and there was never a question about it.
"There's no time like the present," says Ellen. "We know people who have gotten sick, we know people who have died and we know we're together."
If there was a couple that embodied the phrase "go with the flow," it's Ellen and Alan.
"It would be people like us who do something like this," says Ellen.
Ellen and Alan signed up to get married as soon as the Township of Monroe announced available times. They received their marriage license Friday over a Zoom call. The township will be holding weddings like theirs every Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz are having a virtual wedding reception tonight, with more than 100 loved ones over zoom.
