The Dark Knight swooped into K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital in Neptune this week, but instead of fighting crime, he helped battle childhood cancer.

Even a superhero like Batman was humbled when he came across some of pint-sized warriors like 4-year-old Brandon Huber, who was diagnosed with a form of Leukemia three months ago. Four days a week, he puts on his invisible cape for chemotherapy.

You may know Batman's alter ego as Bruce Wayne, but this time it's Damon Cole. He goes incognito as a Texas police officer. Years ago, he noticed some children were uneasy around officers. That's when he sewed a superhero logo on to his bulletproof vest.

"I'd be like, 'Hey I'll tell you a secret, but you can't tell anybody' and then I'd unzip my shirt and show my bulletproof vest and they'd see the logo," says Cole.

He saw the transformative power in those young faces and started visiting hospitals. He's now been to 25 states, using his own vacation time to make the trips.

"I'll do this until God doesn't allow me to do it anymore," he says.

After his New Jersey stops, Batman made his way to to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
