5ds agoThe TGI Fridays has permanently closed its location in Brick Township on Route 70.
Customers looking to eat at the chain found a note posted on the locked doors saying it was closed and thanking them for 26 years of business.
In January, TGI Fridays executives said they would be closing 36 locations across the U.S. due to underperformance and that they would offer transfer opportunities for employees.
TGI Fridays chains closest to the one in Brick Township are the locations in Toms River and Manahawkin.
Longtime residents say they remember the Brick Township restaurant used to be a carpet store about 50 years ago and then a nightclub before it became a TGI Fridays.
There is no word on what's next for the building.
