Police: Teen hit in the head with a machete during fight at Clifton birthday party

Police say the teen suffered a head laceration after being struck with a weapon that witnesses described as a machete.

Police say a 15-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was reportedly hit in the head with a machete at a large birthday party Sunday in Clifton.

A fight broke out at a home on Scoles Avenue around 2 a.m. after a large altercation at the party, according to police. Authorities say several 911 calls were received regarding multiple fights involving baseball bats, knives and a machete.

Police say the teen suffered a head laceration after being struck with a weapon that witnesses described as a machete. The victim was taken to the hospital along with a 44-year-old Passaic man who was stabbed near his hip.

No arrests have been made at this time, but the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at 973-470-5908.
