Six business owners in Teaneck face multiple charges for selling flavored vapes to underaged customers.
Teaneck police say after receiving complaints from residents about the sale of vape products to minors, they conducted an undercover operation. They say the operation involved the attempted purchase of vape products from 13 retail stores. During the operation, police say six out of 13 retail stores sold vape products to an underaged person. This is the second operation of this kind conducted within the past year, according to police.
Police say the following businesses sold vape products to people under the age of 21: Best Stop, Rocklin’s Stationary, Teaneck City Center, $0.99 Treasure, Exxon Gas Station and Mr. RJ Convenience.
In New Jersey, it’s unlawful to sell vape, marijuana or tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21. In addition, it is a violation of state law to sell flavored vape products to anyone, regardless of age.
The business owners are due in Teaneck Municipal Court on May 10.
